About Us

Emergency Training Associates Inc.(ETA) is a Canadian owned company which specializes in the provision of advanced health care training. ETA was incorporated in May 2001 and has taught over 400 courses to more than 8000 students. ETA is guided by health care professionals who possess knowledge and experience in a variety of emergency medical fields. The co-owners, combined, have over 63 years of hands-on experience in diverse emergency health care fields.

ETA offers a variety of advanced emergency training programs to facilities throughout Ontario. However, we specialize in providing on-site ACLS courses which are designed to meet your specific training needs.

Our courses are tailored to meet the specific needs of each client and are taught on-site at your facility. ETA is committed to providing professional, relevant, high quality courses in a learner-friendly, non-threatening environment.

Our Teaching Philisophy

Undoubtedly you have heard numerous horror stories associated with ACLS training or other advanced education programs. Rest assured our teaching methods focus on providing quality courses with expert instruction.

Our programs are geared toward adult learners and are facilitated by experienced educators from a variety of clinical backgrounds. ETA believes continuing education programs should be fun as well as informative. As such our courses are taught without intimidation and focus on learning usable skills in small groups utilizing scenario-based learning.

Cheri BruceRN President, ETA

Aka “Scary Cheri"

Ms. Bruce is a Registered Nurse with extensive background in pre-hospital, intensive care, coronary care and emergency room nursing. Ms. Bruce was the Manager of Emergency Medical Services for the Lester B. Pearson International Airport for seven years.

Cheri is an accomplished educator having taught more than 5000 students in a variety of resuscitation programs including BLS, ACLS, Basic & Advanced Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation, 12 Lead Rhythm Interpretation, Defibrillation & Intravenous Access. She was instrumental in the introduction of Automated External Defibrillation and subsequent First Responder training received by the firefighters of the Greater Toronto Airport Authority. She has facilitated post-graduate programs in Coronary Care, Critical Care & ER Management at a variety of Colleges.

Cheri holds certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Paediatric Advanced Life Support & Emergency Trauma Life Support. Cheri has been teaching ACLS for the past 25 years.

Cheri’s sense of humour is legendary! Her indepth knowledge of the subject area combined with her unique & practical approach to instructing have made her one of the most sought after presenters in the ACLS field.

Pam MacInnisRN

Since graduating as a Registered Nurse, Pam has enjoyed an exciting career in a variety of critical care settings. Beginning her career in NICU, she then expanded to the ER, while continuing to work in the NICU. Included with this hospital experience, she spent a few years working in the community environment with adult and paediatric patients.

A few years later, Pam joined the Emergency Clinics at Lester B. Pearson International Airport. During that time, Pam was also employed as a member of the medical crew with a Toronto based air ambulance company.

Pam’s emergency experience includes working in tertiary care centres, small rural hospitals as well as in a specialized paediatric emergency department. Pam’s teaching career began 23 yrs ago and because of a shared philosophy for incorporating a stress free, humorous learning environment into adult learning, she partnered with Cheri to form ETA in May 2001.
